Campus Wireless Access Point

The HPE Aruba AP-505 (RW) is a dual-radio campus wireless access point with internal antennas. It carries the model number R2H28A and is supplied in new condition as an international version. The unit provides a single 1000Base-T RJ-45 uplink for wired connectivity.

Suitable Deployments

This access point suits organisations deploying unified campus wireless infrastructure with dual-radio 2x2:2 802.11ax capability. It is not intended for buyers who need outdoor-rated hardware or external antenna connectors. Teams requiring multi-gigabit uplink speeds beyond the single RJ-45 port should look at other models.

Deciding Specification

The single 1000Base-T RJ-45 uplink defines the wired backhaul capacity for this AP-505 unit. Verify that your campus switching infrastructure delivers PoE power and gigabit connectivity to each mounting location before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the internal antennas on the AP-505 need replacement after extended use?

The internal antennas are fixed and not user-replaceable; the unit is designed for the full service life without antenna maintenance.

What throughput ceiling does the single 1000Base-T RJ-45 port impose under sustained load?

The wired uplink caps at 1000 Mbps, so aggregate wireless traffic cannot exceed that link speed during continuous operation.

How much heat does the R2H28A produce when running all day in a campus deployment?

The access point draws up to 28 W, so sustained operation dissipates that power as heat inside the mounting environment.
