10G SFP+ Direct Attach Cable

This copper cable connects two SFP+ ports at up to 10 Gbit/s. It is built for Aruba Instant On switches and any compatible network device that uses the SFP+ interface. The 9.84 ft length suits rack-to-rack or adjacent-cabinet links.

Capacity and headroom

The link runs at 10 Gbit/s full duplex over copper, so it handles typical access-layer traffic, iSCSI storage and backup streams without saturation. Beyond the rated length or when ports negotiate higher speeds the cable cannot support the connection.

Upgrade path

It replaces shorter SFP+ DACs or fibre patch cords when the distance between devices reaches 9.84 ft. The jump is worth it when existing cables are too short and a longer copper run avoids the cost and complexity of transceivers and fibre.

Questions about this item

Will the 9.84 ft SFP+ copper cable reach between my existing 10 Gbit/s switch and a new server in the same rack?

Yes, the 9.84 ft length is designed for intra-rack or adjacent-rack connections at 10 Gbit/s over copper.

How can I verify the link is running at the rated 10 Gbit/s after I plug in both SFP+ ends?

Check the switch or server interface status; it should report a 10 Gbit/s link with no errors on the SFP+ ports.

Does the R9D20A package include the two SFP+ modules or only the copper cable with fixed ends?

The cable has integrated SFP+ connectors on both ends, so no separate transceivers are required.
