HPE Aruba AP-305 JX936A dual-band access point

The HPE Aruba AP-305 JX936A is a dual-band wireless access point that operates on 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. It delivers a wireless transmission speed of 1.70 Gbit/s using IEEE 802.11ac with MIMO technology and three internal antennas. The unit provides a single 1000Base-T RJ-45 port for wired network connectivity.

Suits enterprises deploying Aruba controller-based

This access point is designed for organisations that manage their wireless infrastructure through an Aruba mobility controller. It fits environments needing dual-band 802.11ac coverage with 3x3 MIMO spatial streams. Buyers who need a standalone router with built-in gateway, firewall or DHCP server functions should consider a different product category.

Controller-dependent operation is the deciding

The AP-305 JX936A requires an Aruba mobility controller to provision, configure and enforce policies; it does not operate autonomously. Confirm that your existing infrastructure includes a compatible controller before purchase. Without that controller the access point cannot serve clients.

Questions about this item

What network switch or injector do I need to power the JX936A AP-305 through its 1000Base-T port?

The access point requires a PoE+ source on its single RJ-45 port; check your switch or injector documentation for PoE+ support.

Will the AP-305 work with my existing 802.11n clients on the 2.40 GHz band?

Yes, the dual-band radio supports legacy 802.11n devices on 2.40 GHz while serving 802.11ac clients on 5 GHz.

How can I confirm the AP-305 is delivering its rated 1.70 Gbit/s aggregate throughput after installation?

Run a throughput test from a 3×3 802.11ac client on each band; combined results should approach the 1.70 Gbit/s figure.
