Stacking cable for HP 2920 switches

This 1.0 m cable is built to stack compatible HP Baseline 2920 switches into a single logical unit. It carries the management and data links required for the stacking function.

Network administrators expanding a 2920 stack

The part is intended for IT teams who need to add or link HP Baseline 2920 switches in a rack. It will not suit installations that use other switch families or require longer inter-switch runs.

1.0 m length fixes the maximum switch separation

At 1.0 m (3.28 ft) the cable only reaches between adjacent or nearby rack positions. Measure the gap between your 2920 units before ordering; a longer reach needs a different cable.

Questions about this item

Which HP switch model does the J9735A 1.0 m stacking cable officially support?

Can the 3.3 ft cable reach between two 2920 switches mounted in adjacent rack units?

At 3.28 ft (1.0 m) the cable spans roughly one rack unit, so it can connect switches in neighbouring slots if the ports line up.

How can I confirm the stacking link is active after connecting the cable?

Check the front-panel stacking LEDs on each 2920 switch; a solid green light indicates the stack link has come up.
