HPE LTO-8 Ultrium Rack Mount Kit

This 1U rack-mount kit houses a single HPE StoreEver LTO-8 Ultrium 30750 internal tape drive and includes five LTO-8 data cartridges. It targets IT teams that need a space-efficient SAS backup and archiving appliance for the data centre. The pre-configured bundle suits environments where rack density is at a premium and tape-based retention is required.

300 MB/s Native Transfer Rate and SAS Interface

The LTO-8 drive delivers a maximum native data transfer rate of 300 MB/s and a compressed rate of up to 830 MB/s at a 2.5:1 ratio. Host connectivity is provided by a 12 Gb/s SAS interface that also negotiates down to 6 Gb/s. The enclosure is designed for standard rack airflow, keeping drive thermals within spec during sustained streaming workloads.

1U Enclosure with Upgrade Path for Second Drive

The black 1U chassis accommodates up to two half-height SAS tape drives, allowing a future capacity increase to 90 TB compressed with LTO-9 45000 drives. Front-loading cartridges and standard rack ears simplify daily media handling and installation in standard cabinets. Included WORM support and hardware encryption address compliance requirements without extra software.

What throughput ceiling appears first during a long backup job?

The native transfer rate tops out at 300 MB/s per LTO-8 Ultrium drive, which is the sustained limit of the SAS interface.
