HPE LTO-9 SAS rack-mount kit with five cartridges

This pre-configured 1U rack-mount kit includes one HPE StoreEver LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 internal tape drive and five LTO-9 45 TB compressed-capacity data cartridges. It provides a space-efficient, high-density tape solution for SAS backup and archiving in a single rack unit. The kit delivers a native transfer rate of 300 MB/s and supports hardware encryption and WORM functionality for data protection.

Suited for teams adding tape backup to a SAS

Organisations that need an out-of-the-box LTO-9 SAS drive with matching media in a compact 1U form factor will find this kit convenient. Buyers who require Fibre Channel connectivity, a second drive installed, or a standalone drive without cartridges should consider other configurations.

Single 12 GB/s SAS host interface

The drive connects via a single 12 GB/s SAS interface, which determines host-bus-adapter and cabling requirements. Verify that your server or backup appliance has a compatible 12 GB/s SAS port and cable before purchase.

Questions about this item

What is included in the P77034-B25 kit and what must be purchased separately?

The kit contains a 1U rack-mount enclosure, one HPE StoreEver LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 internal tape drive, and five LTO-9 45 TB data cartridges. A specialised 12 GB/s SAS cable is available separately for host connection.

Should I choose the 12 GB/s SAS interface or the 6 GB/s SAS option listed for this drive?

The rack-mount kit now supports the LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 on a 12 GB/s SAS interface; select that version to match the drive's native capability.

What does the 300 MB/s native transfer rate mean when the drive is installed in a server?

The 300 MB/s figure is the maximum native data transfer rate of the LTO-9 Ultrium 45000 drive; with 2.5:1 compression the effective rate can reach 90 TB per cartridge.
