Adds 24 SFP expansion slots to a ProCurve 5400zl chassis for fibre networking
This HPE ProCurve module adds twenty-four SFP mini-GBIC slots to a 5400zl chassis, letting administrators populate each port with the fibre or copper transceiver the link requires. It is aimed at network teams that need flexible, high-density uplink expansion without replacing the core switch.
The module replaces empty module bays or older fixed-port cards, delivering a full complement of twenty-four hot-swappable SFP interfaces in a single slot. The jump is worthwhile when the chassis has free bays and the design calls for mixed media or future speed changes rather than a fixed copper layout.
Weighing approximately 2.01 lb, the module draws power and cooling from the 5400 chassis and presents no active components of its own, so thermal behaviour follows the host switch under continuous traffic. It is not for environments that require integrated MACsec, PoE budget on the module itself, or port counts beyond the twenty-four slots provided.
