Connects network devices at 100 Gbit/s over a 16.40 ft QSFP28 direct attach copper link weighing 1.19 lb
This 5 metre direct attach copper cable connects two QSFP28 ports at 100 Gbit/s. It suits data-centre racks where short, low-latency links between switches or servers are required. The 1.19 lb assembly is built for high-density patching in Aruba and HPE environments.
The copper design removes the need for separate transceivers and fibre patch cords on links up to 16.40 ft. The jump is worth it when power draw and cost must stay low and the distance stays within the 5 metre reach. It does not suit runs that exceed the copper length limit or links requiring optical isolation.
Each end plugs straight into a QSFP28 cage with a 1 x QSFP28 network connector; no driver or firmware load is needed on the cable itself. What usually goes wrong is inserting the latch at the wrong angle or seating the module incompletely, which causes link flaps until the connector clicks fully home.

| Brand name | HPE |
| Product type | Network Cable |
The 5 metre direct-attach cable weighs 1.19 lb and requires enough slack for its full 16.40 ft length plus the QSFP28 connector depth on each end.
Align each QSFP28 end with the port, push straight in until the latch clicks, then tug gently to confirm it is locked; never force at an angle.
Replace the cable if the latch no longer holds, the jacket shows kinks or cuts, or link errors appear at the rated 100 Gbit/s rate.
