Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 outdoor access point with 2.97 Gbps aggregate throughput and Bluetooth 5
The HPE R7T29A Aruba AP-585EX is a weatherproofed, temperature-hardened wireless access point built for outdoor and hazardous indoor locations. It delivers Wi-Fi 6 performance with a maximum aggregate throughput of 2.97 Gbps across 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz bands using internal antennas and MIMO technology.
This unit targets network engineers deploying connectivity on oil rigs, in manufacturing plants or across transportation sites where extreme temperatures, moisture and airborne contaminants are present. It is not for buyers who need indoor-only hardware, who require external antenna flexibility or who lack PoE infrastructure to power the device.
The AP-585EX includes two RJ-45 ports supporting Gigabit, 5 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet speeds alongside PoE input, simplifying cabling in hardened environments. Bluetooth 5 and 802.15.4/Zigbee radios are built in for IoT gateway duties, freeing separate sensor bridges. Mounting uses existing Aruba brackets, reducing new hardware requirements.

The AP-585EX requires a PoE injector or PoE-capable switch that can deliver the wattage the unit needs over its RJ-45 port.
Yes, the dual-band radios support both 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz clients, so older Wi-Fi devices on either band can connect alongside Wi-Fi 6 stations.
Run a throughput test from a Wi-Fi 6 client on each band simultaneously; the combined result should approach 2.97 Gbps under clean RF conditions.
