HPE X242 40G QSFP+ DAC Cable

The HPE X242Product is a 40G QSFP+ to QSFP+ direct attach copper cable measuring 9.84 ft. It carries the manufacturer part number JH235A and is built for short-reach 40 Gbit/s links between compatible network devices.

Suited for 40G QSFP+ switch ports.

This cable serves administrators connecting HP 5400R zl2 Series Switch ports or other equipment with matching QSFP+ interfaces at 40 Gbit/s. Buyers who need a different data rate, a longer reach, or a fibre-based transceiver should look at alternative products.

Simple plug-in install; verify port compatibility

Installation is a direct plug into each QSFP+ port with no software configuration required. The most common issue is attempting to use the cable in ports that do not support 40 Gbit/s QSFP+ signalling, which prevents the link from coming up.

Questions about this item

Do I need switches with QSFP+ ports to use this 3m DAC?

Yes, both ends use QSFP+ connectors so each linked device must provide a QSFP+ port.

Can I connect this cable to an HP 5400R zl2 Series Switch?

The cable is listed as compatible with the HP 5400R zl2 Series Switch, so it will link to that platform.

How can I verify the link is running at 40 Gbit/s after installation?

Check the switch port status or interface statistics; they should report a 40 Gbit/s data rate on the QSFP+ ports.
