Watertight industrial locking plug rated 30 A, 277 V AC with NEMA L7-30P configuration, screw terminals and chemical- and impact-resistant thermoplastic housing for cable diameters from 0.375
The Hubbell HBL28W49 is a watertight locking plug rated for 30 A at 277V AC. It uses a NEMA L7-30P configuration with two poles and three blades. The straight-orientation housing is made from yellow thermoplastic elastomer. Industrial-grade construction provides chemical and impact resistance for demanding environments.
This plug replaces standard straight-blade connectors that can loosen under vibration or admit moisture. The locking mechanism secures the connection in temporary power setups, generator hookups, or outdoor distribution. The jump is worth it when code requires a watertight, polarized device for single-phase loads up to 30 A.
Screw terminals accept conductors sized for cables between 0.375 in and 1 in outside diameter. The 30 A rating provides headroom for continuous industrial loads at 277V AC. It runs out when the application exceeds the single-phase, two-pole NEMA L7-30P specification or requires a higher current rating.

The plug fits cables from 0.375 in to 1 in outer diameter, using its screw-terminal housing and gland nut.
Strip conductors to the length marked on the housing, insert each wire into its labelled screw terminal, tighten screws to the specified torque, then seat the gland nut and housing seals before final tightening.
Check the gland-nut seal, housing gasket and locking-ring threads for wear or chemical damage; replace the seal kit if the watertight rating is compromised.
