Steel EMT Coupling 1 1/4 in

This zinc-plated steel coupling joins two lengths of 1 1/4 in EMT conduit in a straight line. It is cULus listed to UL 514B and rated concrete-tight for embedded installations. The set-screw connection secures the conduit without threads. Electrical contractors use it for commercial and industrial raceway systems.

Set-screw connection and concrete-tight rating

The set-screw design allows fast installation without threading the conduit. A concrete-tight seal protects conductors when the raceway passes through slabs or walls. The zinc-plated finish resists corrosion in damp locations. The coupling includes the clamp hardware required for the connection.

Trade size 1 1/4 in limits conduit capacity

This fitting accepts only 1 1/4 in EMT conduit; it cannot join larger or smaller trade sizes. The straight orientation does not change direction, so bends require separate fittings. Set-screw torque must meet code requirements for a secure bond. Installers needing threaded or compression couplings must select a different type.

Questions about this item

Will the set-screw threads on this 1 1/4 in coupling strip if I re-tighten them during a future inspection?

The coupling uses a steel set-screw connection rated for EMT conduit; repeated adjustment is not a designed maintenance step, so plan to leave the original torque once installed.

What mechanical limit appears first when this zinc-plated steel coupling carries a continuous load through EMT conduit?

The cULus listing to UL 514B defines the structural and concrete-tight ratings; exceeding the listed trade-size 1 1/4 in capacity is the first limit you will reach.

Does the zinc-plated finish on this 0.31 lb coupling generate noticeable heat or require extra cooling when enclosed all day?

No — it is a passive metallic fitting with no electrical consumption, so it produces no heat and needs no ventilation beyond normal conduit-fill rules.
