Switch module for Xeon server integration

This switch module is built around an Intel Xeon processor with 12 cores running at 2.5 GHz. It is designed for system integrators upgrading or repairing compatible IBM server platforms that require this specific processing package.

Socket FCLGA2011-3 compatibility requirement

The processor fits only the FCLGA2011-3 socket and operates within a 120 W thermal envelope. Buyers whose boards use a different socket or cannot accommodate this power profile will need a different module.

Questions about this item

What does the 2.5 GHz clock speed mean for actual workloads on this Xeon?

The 2.5 GHz base frequency sets the guaranteed minimum speed across all 12 cores, so multi-threaded tasks such as virtualisation or database processing run at a consistent rate without relying on turbo behaviour.

How does the 9.6 GT/s QPI link affect system performance?

The 9.6 GT/s QuickPath Interconnect provides up to 9.6 billion transfers per second between sockets, which determines the practical bandwidth ceiling for memory and I/O traffic in multi-socket servers.
