SKU CH-W3QC-KTTNZ MPN 22R5491

A refurbished 300 GB 10,000 rpm 2 Gbps Fibre Channel drive module for DS8000 storage

  • 10000Rpm spindle speed delivers fast data access
  • 2Gbps Fibre Channel interface connects to DS8000 systems
  • 5Inch low-profile form factor fits dense enclosures

Refurbished 300 GB 10K RPM Fibre Channel Drive

This refurbished IBM 22R5491 module provides 300 GB of storage on a 3.5-inch form factor spinning at 10000 RPM. It connects via a 2 Gbps Fibre Channel interface designed for the DS8000 storage environment. The low-profile hard disk drive module suits administrators replacing a failed drive in an existing Fibre Channel array. Buyers needing a different capacity or a newer interface protocol should look elsewhere.

Thermals and power draw in normal use

The drive operates at 10000 RPM inside the DS8000 enclosure where system-level cooling manages thermals. Power consumption scales with the 2 Gbps Fibre Channel activity and spindle speed during typical read and write workloads. Acoustic output is determined by the chassis fans rather than the module itself. No independent thermal or noise figures are supplied for the standalone unit.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 3.5-inch Fibre Channel drive module into the DS8000 enclosure, and which step is most often missed?

Slide the module into the correct bay until the latch clicks, then verify the 2 Gbps link light turns solid green before closing the bezel.

What maintenance or replacement will the 300 Gb 10000 rpm drive module need over time?

Plan to replace the drive module if SMART errors appear or after the rated duty cycle; keep a spare 22R5491 on hand for hot-swap replacement.
