IBM 49Y7949 NetXtreme II 1000 Express Quad Port Ethernet Adapter switch module

SKU CH-4BZZ-BM31H

A quad-port Gigabit Ethernet adapter module for expanding wired network connectivity

  • Quad-port design enables four simultaneous network connections
  • PCI Express interface supports high-speed data transfer
  • Gigabit Ethernet delivers up to 1000 Mbps bandwidth
  • New condition ensures reliable out-of-box performance

Four-port Gigabit Ethernet module

The IBM 49Y7949 NetXtreme II switch module provides four 1000 Mbps Ethernet ports in a single expansion slot. It suits servers and workstations that need multiple wired network connections for segmentation, redundancy or link aggregation. Buyers who require fibre uplinks or speeds above one gigabit per second will need a different adapter.

Low-profile passive cooling

The card uses a passive heatsink with no onboard fan, so it adds no audible noise to the chassis airflow. Typical power draw is modest for a quad-port copper design, letting it run within standard slot limits without extra power cables. Thermal performance scales with case airflow, so restricted enclosures may see higher temperatures.

Questions about this item

How do I install the IBM 49Y7949 switch module in my chassis?

Align the module with the designated switch bay, slide it in until the connector seats fully, then secure the two captive screws to lock it in place.

What maintenance will the 49Y7949 need over time?

Keep the front-panel vents clear of dust so airflow stays unobstructed; if a port LED fails or link errors appear, the entire module is replaced as a single unit.
