A 3U rack-mountable drive enclosure with 16 bays, dual switched 4 Gbps ESMs, dual power supplies, and redundant cooling, supporting up to 16 TB with 1000 GB SATA DDMs or 7.2 TB with 450 GB FC DDMs
The IBM 1818-D1A EXP5000 is a 3U rack-mountable drive enclosure that provides sixteen drive bays for expanding Fibre Channel storage arrays. It is built for data-centre environments that need high-density capacity in a standard rack footprint.
Each enclosure includes two switched 4 Gbps Fibre Channel environmental services modules that deliver redundant host connectivity. This dual-ESM design is the specification that determines compatibility with existing Fibre Channel SAN infrastructure.
Using 1000 GB SATA disk drive modules the enclosure reaches 16 TB of raw capacity, while 450 GB Fibre Channel DDMs provide 7.2 TB. The sixteen-bay limit and dual power supplies define the maximum headroom before another enclosure must be added.
