Heat-shrink splice kit for copper motor-lead, pool and power cables up to 2 AWG with adhesive-lined cross-linked polyolefin tubing rated 600 V and 221 °F
The Ideal 46-405 Wire Connector Kit provides insulated splices for copper conductors up to 2 AWG. It is designed for electricians and technicians working on motor connections, pool wiring and power cable repairs. The kit uses cross-linked polyolefin tubing with an adhesive liner to create a watertight seal. It is rated for 600 V maximum voltage and a maximum operating temperature of 221 Degrees F.
This kit replaces electrical tape and standard twist-on connectors that can loosen or allow moisture ingress over time. The heat-shrink method creates a permanent, sealed joint that resists vibration and corrosion in damp environments. The jump is worth it when a repair must withstand direct burial, pool chemicals or continuous mechanical stress on motor leads. It is not suited for aluminium conductors or cables larger than the stated maximum.
Installation requires a heat gun or torch to shrink the tubing until the adhesive liner flows and seals the connection. The tubing shrinks to fit a maximum cable OD of .26 in, so verify conductor insulation diameter before starting. Common issues include insufficient heat causing a loose seal or overheating that damages the brass splice body. Ensure the adhesive liner melts fully around the joint for reliable waterproofing.

The heat-shrink tubing accepts cables up to 0.26 in outer diameter before shrinking.
Applying heat evenly until the adhesive liner melts and seals the joint is the step installers skip.
Replace any kit exposed above 221 °F because the cross-linked polyolefin rating is exceeded.
