2.5" SATA Enclosure with USB 3.0

This 2.5 inch SATA enclosure connects a hard drive or solid-state drive to a PC, laptop, TV or mobile phone with OTG support via USB 3.0. The USB 3.0 A interface delivers up to 5 Gbps and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. UASP accelerated transmission protocol provides up to 10x faster performance than USB 2.0 and traditional USB 3.0. Tool-free, plug-and-play installation works with Windows, Mac and Linux without extra drivers.

Suits 2.5" SATA drives up to 6 TB

Builders with 7 mm to 9.5 mm thick SATA HDDs or SSDs up to 6 TB gain portable external storage with EVA foam protection and an intelligent sleep mode that activates after 3 minutes of inactivity. Buyers who need to connect an M.2 drive, a 3.5 inch drive, or who require a different external interface should look at another enclosure.

USB 3.0 with UASP protocol

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.0 external interface combined with UASP support, which determines the maximum transfer speed available to the connected SATA drive.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 7 mm or 9.5 mm height for my 2.5" SATA drive?

Both fit. The enclosure accepts any 2.5" SATA HDD or SSD between 7 mm and 9.5 mm thick, so choose the one that matches your drive.

What does the 5 Gbps USB 3.0 rating actually deliver when I copy files?

With UASP enabled the link runs at up to 5 Gbps, giving real-world throughput well above USB 2.0 speeds for large sequential transfers.

Does the SATA interface inside the box limit the speed of a modern SSD?

The internal SATA connection caps the drive at SATA speeds, so an SSD will not exceed that ceiling even though the USB 3.0 link is faster.
