External USB 3.0 Blu-ray Burner

This IHDAPP external drive connects via USB 3.0 and handles Blu-ray, DVD and CD media. It reads BD-ROM at 2X, DVD-ROM at 8X and CD-ROM at 24X. Write speeds reach 8X for BD-R, 2X for BD-RE and up to 24X for CD-R. The silver aluminium chassis is slim and portable.

Home users and laptop owners

It suits anyone needing an optical drive on a device that lacks an internal bay, and works with Windows XP through 10, Vista, 2000, Mac OS and Linux. Buyers who want internal installation or M-DISC recording should look elsewhere.

USB 3.0 interface

The drive uses a single USB 3.0 connection for both power and data, so no external adapter is required. Plug-and-play operation means it is recognised without extra drivers on supported systems.

Questions about this item

How often will the laser or tray mechanism need servicing on this IHDAPP USB 3.0 burner?

The drive has no user-serviceable laser or tray parts; keep the slot clean and avoid dust to maximise its lifespan.

What speed limit appears first during long Blu-ray write sessions on this external drive?

BD-R writing is capped at 8X, so sustained burns will not exceed that rate.

How much heat or fan noise does the aluminium silver case produce when running all day?

The slim aluminium body dissipates heat passively with no fan, so it stays quiet and only warm during continuous use.
