4-Inch Wi-Fi Smart Recessed LED Kit

This six-pack of ultra-thin 4-inch LED downlights delivers 810 lumens each at 9 watts. The fixtures connect to a 120-volt circuit and install with only 2 inches of ceiling clearance. Built-in Wi-Fi enables app control and voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Nest. The wet-rated trim is suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and soffits.

Buyers wanting colour-tunable smart lighting

Homeowners who want 16 million colour options and music-sync effects will find the RGBCW LEDs a good fit. The lights are Energy Star certified and IC rated for direct contact with insulation. Installers who need a junction box and a 1:1 cut-out template are also covered. Buyers who require a hard-wired dimmer switch or a non-smart fixture should look elsewhere.

2-inch minimum ceiling clearance

The defining constraint is the 2-inch plenum depth needed for the ultra-thin housing. If the joist space is shallower, the fixture will not fit. When that clearance exists, the wet-rated, IC-rated design allows installation in insulated ceilings and damp locations without additional housing.

Questions about this item

Does the 9 W LED run cool enough to leave on all day in an insulated ceiling?

The fixture is IC rated and designed for direct contact with insulation, so it operates safely during extended use.

What must I already own to control the 16 million colour options and voice features?

A Wi-Fi network, a smartphone for the app, and an Alexa, Google Nest, Apple HomeKit or SmartThings device enable full control.

Will the 4 inch trim fit the same cut-out as my older 4 inch housings?

The ultra-thin design needs only 2 inches of clearance and uses a 1:1 template, so it fits standard 4 inch openings without a bulky housing.
