SlimSAS 4i to M.2 PCIe Gen 4 Adapter
This adapter connects an M.2 M-key PCIe 4.0 device to a SlimSAS 4i (SFF-8654) host interface. It integrates a ReDriver, clock buffer and side-band repeaters to maintain 16 GT/s signal integrity over extended trace lengths and cables. The card targets rack, tower and micro-servers as well as high-performance compute and storage-controller deployments. It operates with Windows 7 through 10 and UEFI 2.3.1 or later.
Builders extending PCIe 4.0 to M.2 via SlimSAS
Suitable for integrators who need to route Gen 4 links from a backplane or HBA to an M.2 slot while compensating for longer interconnects. The on-board ReDriver and buffers address clock, PERST#, WAKE# and CLKREQ# across those distances. Not suited for installations that require a different M.2 key, a PCIe 5.0 link, or a direct motherboard M.2 mount without a SlimSAS connection.
16 GT/s ReDriver for Gen 4 signal reach
The defining specification is the built-in PCIe 4.0 ReDriver that sustains 16 GT/s differential pairs together with a 100 MHz clock buffer and SMBCLK/SMBDAT, PERST#, WAKE# and CLKREQ# repeaters. Compliance with SFF-8654 1.2, SFF-9402 1.1 and the PCIe M.2 Spec Rev 4.0 ensures the adapter meets the electrical requirements for extended cabling in server and accelerator applications.

Questions about this item
What physical slot and connector does the Innocard M.2 M-key PCIe Gen 4 ReDriver SlimSAS 4i Adapter require on the motherboard?
It requires an M.2 M-key slot on the motherboard and presents a SlimSAS 4i (SFF-8654) connector for the cable side.
What is the correct installation sequence for the built-in PCIe ReDriver and clock buffer to function?
Insert the adapter into the M.2 M-key slot, secure it with the mounting screw, then attach the SlimSAS 4i cable; the ReDriver and 100 MHz clock buffer activate automatically once the system powers on.
When should the SlimSAS 4i cable or the adapter itself be replaced to maintain Gen 4 16 GT/s signal integrity?
Replace the cable if its SFF-8654 connectors show bent pins or the cable jacket is kinked; replace the adapter only if the PERST#, WAKE# or CLKREQ# buffer gates fail to re-establish link after a reboot.
