SlimSAS 4i & U.2 to PCIe x4 Adapter
This Innocard adapter converts a SlimSAS 4i connector and a U.2 port to two PCIe x4 slots. It operates at PCIe Gen 4 speeds of 16GT/s and is designed for Broadcom 95xx series MegaRAID and HBA Tri-Mode storage adapters. The board is made in Taiwan.
Suits Broadcom 95xx Tri-Mode builds.
Builders using Broadcom 95xx PCIe 4.0 MegaRAID or HBA Tri-Mode adapters gain direct SlimSAS 4i and U.2 connectivity with hot-plug power management. Systems without a compatible Broadcom 95xx Tri-Mode controller cannot use the BP_TYPE or CPRSNT signalling this adapter provides.
PCIe Gen 4 16GT/s interface
The adapter runs at PCIe Gen 4 16GT/s across both x4 slots. It implements SFF-8639 and SFF-8654 4i pin-outs per SFF-9402 Rev 1.1 and includes +12V eFuse protection with a 6.5A programmable current limit. A PWM buck converter supplies 3.3V at up to 4A with over-current and under-voltage lockout protection.

Questions about this item
What does the PCIe Gen4 16GT/s rating mean for an installed drive?
The adapter passes a 16 GT/s PCIe 4.0 x4 link so a connected U.2 or SlimSAS device can run at its full Gen4 bandwidth without the adapter becoming a bottleneck.
Which connector standards are used and what do they cap in practice?
It uses an SFF-8639 U.2 port and an SFF-8654 4i SlimSAS port, both pinned to SFF-9402 Rev 1.1, and each is limited to a PCIe 4.0 x4 electrical interface.
What physical space and power connections does the card need?
It occupies one PCIe x4 slot, provides two onboard PCIe x4 slots for the target devices, and draws +12 V from the slot with on-board eFuse-protected hot-plug circuitry and a 12 V to 3.3 V buck converter for auxiliary power.
