A 10Gbps plug-in network card using 10GBase-SR optics for short-range fibre links
The Intel X520-SR1 is a 10Gbps plug-in network card built for data centre servers running virtualised workloads, HPC clusters, database nodes or video-on-demand streaming. It targets administrators who need flexible, scalable I/O for multi-core platforms.
The adapter delivers 10Gbps over 10GBase-SR optics, providing bandwidth headroom for consolidated virtual machines and storage traffic. It runs out when aggregate demand exceeds a single 10Gbps lane or when longer-reach fibre is required.
The bundled low-profile bracket lets the card fit in 1U and other space-constrained chassis where a full-height bracket would not install. Without it the adapter would be limited to full-height server slots only.

The card uses a PCI Express interface and will negotiate down to the slot speed; 10Gbps throughput requires at least a PCIe 2.0 x8 or PCIe 3.0 x4 link.
Check the adapter LEDs — solid green indicates link up — and confirm 10 Gbps speed in the OS network settings or switch port counters.
The X520-SR1 ships with a short-range SFP+ transceiver installed; LC duplex multimode patch cables are not included and must be purchased separately.
