IEEE 802.3z distance and wavelength constraints

The module operates at the standard LX distance of 10 km with RX at 1310 nm and TX at 1550 nm, so it must be paired with a matching 1550/1310 nm transceiver such as the 507509 or GLC-BX-U. Links beyond 10 km or on multimode fiber are not supported by this wavelength plan.

Metal housing and hot-plug operation

A compact metal enclosure measuring .50 x 2.24 x .55 inches and weighing .04 lb reduces electromagnetic interference and fits high-density SFP cages. The unit is hot-pluggable into any MSA or Cisco-compliant port running at 3.3 V with a maximum draw of 1.0 W, and it operates from 0 to 70 °C.
