25 ft Cat8.1 S/FTP patch cable

This 25 ft Cat8.1 S/FTP patch cable delivers 40 Gbps throughput at 2 GHz for data-centre Top-of-Rack and Middle-of-Row links. It uses 100 % bare copper conductors, 24 AWG stranded wire, and 50 micro-inch gold-plated RJ45 contacts. The double-shielded S/FTP construction wraps each pair in foil and adds an overall aluminum braid to suppress crosstalk. Snag-free boots protect the connectors during pulls.

Replaces Cat6a or lower links

The jump is worth it when 25GBase-T or 40GBase-T speeds are required and the run stays within the 25 ft length. It also adds headroom for IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ loads up to 100 W per port. Existing Cat6a or Cat7 patch cords that cannot certify to 2000 MHz should be swapped out to avoid bottlenecks on 25 GbE and 40 GbE switch ports.

Check switch port speed and cable routing

Verify that both ends connect to 25G or 40G RJ45 ports; slower ports will negotiate down but waste the cable’s certified bandwidth. Ensure the pathway can accommodate the thicker S/FTP jacket and that bend radius limits are observed. Confirm the equipment supports IEEE 802.3bt if PoE++ power delivery is planned. No other infrastructure changes are mandated by the cable itself.
