Controls 16 HDMI computers from one console with 1920 x 1200 video, stereo audio, two shared USB 2.0 ports, and cascading to 256 systems
The IOGEAR GCS1816H is a 16-port USB HDMI KVM switch that lets one keyboard, mouse and monitor manage up to sixteen computers. It includes stereo audio switching and two extra USB 2.0 ports for shared peripherals such as printers or storage. The unit is TAA compliant and ships with two custom KVM cable sets for immediate deployment.
IT administrators who need single-console control of sixteen HDMI sources will benefit from push-button, hot-key and on-screen-display selection. Auto-scan intervals from 1 to 255 seconds simplify monitoring. Buyers who require 4K resolution, DisplayPort inputs or more than two shared USB peripherals should consider other solutions.
The switch supports up to 1080p and 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz, which defines the highest image quality available from any connected source. Cascading two levels expands control to 256 systems while maintaining this resolution ceiling. Verify that every target computer outputs within this limit before purchase.

Mount the unit using the included rack mounting kit, connect each computer with the supplied USB HDMI KVM cable sets, then attach the console monitor, keyboard, mouse and audio. The step often missed is connecting the DC 5.0V power adapter before configuring the OSD or hot-key settings.
The switch has no user-serviceable parts inside. Maintenance is limited to keeping vents clear so the operating temperature stays within 0ºC to 50ºC, checking that the 16 green USB peripheral LEDs and 16 orange On Line LEDs behave normally, and replacing the external power adapter if it fails.
The thermal limit of 50ºC is the first constraint under sustained use. The unit draws 12.2W at DC 5.0V, so adequate airflow in the rack is required to prevent the internal temperature from reaching the maximum operating threshold.
