Dual DisplayPort KVM with built-in cables

The IOGEAR GCS52DP is a two-port DisplayPort KVM switch that lets one keyboard, one mouse and one monitor control two computers. It ships with all cables attached and draws power from the USB connections, so no external adapter is required. A 6 ft remote push-button handles the computer selection.

Sustained operation within rated limits

The unit is specified for continuous use between 0 and 50 °C at up to 80 % non-condensing humidity. Because it has no fan or active cooling, thermal performance depends on ambient airflow around the compact enclosure. The DisplayPort 1.1 link and HDCP handshake remain stable during long sessions at the supported resolution.

DisplayPort 1.1 bandwidth ceiling

Video is limited to 4096 x 2160 at 30 Hz by the DisplayPort 1.1 interface, so higher refresh rates or deeper colour depths at that resolution are not possible. Audio and microphone paths use 3.5 mm analogue jacks rather than the digital audio channels in the DisplayPort stream. USB 2.0 ports handle keyboard and mouse only; they do not support high-speed peripherals.

Questions about this item

Does the GCS52DP generate noticeable heat or noise when left running all day?

The unit operates silently with no fan and stays within a 0 to 50 °C range, so it adds virtually no heat or noise to a desk that runs continuously.

What cables or peripherals must I already own to use this KVM switch?

You need two computers with DisplayPort outputs and USB 2.0 ports, plus a single DisplayPort monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse; all connection cables are built into the switch.

Will the GCS52DP work with an older 1080p DisplayPort monitor I want to keep?

Yes, the switch supports resolutions up to 4096 x 2160 at 30 Hz and will downscale to 1080p or any lower DisplayPort timing your monitor accepts.
