Dual DisplayPort 1.2 Splitter for Single Output

This IOGEAR GDPSP2 splitter connects two independent displays to a computer that has only one DisplayPort 1.2 video output. It functions as both a splitter and an MST hub, letting users mirror the desktop or extend it across two monitors. The device targets professionals and enthusiasts who need extra screen space without adding a graphics card.

Mirror or Extend Modes Change Workflow Options

Mirror mode duplicates the same image on both screens, which suits remote monitoring, digital signage or presentation scenarios. Extend mode treats each monitor as a separate desktop, enabling multi-document editing, media streaming and web browsing side by side. The choice between modes is made in the operating system display settings, not on the hardware itself.

Maximum Supported Resolution Is 4096x2160 at 60Hz

The splitter passes Cinema 4K signals up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz per display when the source and cables meet the DisplayPort 1.2 requirement. Systems limited to lower DisplayPort versions or cables rated for lesser bandwidth will not reach this resolution or refresh rate. Buyers needing higher refresh rates or greater pixel counts should verify their source capabilities before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the IOGEAR GDPSP2 need any firmware updates or driver maintenance to keep both monitors running at 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz?

The splitter works as a passive DisplayPort 1.2 device and requires no firmware or driver updates to maintain 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz on both connected displays.

What bandwidth limit appears first when both outputs run at 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz for long sessions?

The single DisplayPort 1.2 input caps total throughput, so dual 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz streams share that fixed bandwidth ceiling.

How much heat or fan noise does the GDPSP2 produce when driving two 4K monitors all day?

The unit has no fan and draws minimal power, so it stays cool and silent even during continuous dual 4096 x 2160 @ 60Hz operation.
