iRonthunder XJ10P 4-Band Radio

The iRonthunder XJ10P is a compact portable radio covering AM, FM, shortwave and NOAA weather bands. It suits campers, hikers and anyone preparing for emergencies who wants a single device for news, music and critical alerts. The pocket-sized unit weighs 0.32 lb and measures 1.14 in by 4.65 in by 2.72 in, so it slips easily into a bag or pocket for daily carry.

Dual Power and Antenna Limits

A built-in 500mAh battery charges via the included Type-C cable, while a slot for two AA cells provides backup when mains power is unavailable. The 33.5cm (13.19 inches) telescoping antenna improves reception, yet AM signals remain stronger near windows or outdoors and shortwave reception depends heavily on local conditions and ionospheric activity. A 3.5mm earphone jack allows private listening without disturbing others.

Upgrade from Single-Band Units

This radio replaces a basic AM/FM-only receiver by adding NOAA weather alerts and shortwave capability for broader situational awareness. The jump is worthwhile when you need weather warnings during storms or international broadcasts while travelling off-grid. Buyers who only need local FM music or who require Bluetooth streaming will not gain the features they want from this model.

Questions about this item

Which power option should I choose between the built-in 500mAh cell and the two AA cells?

Use the internal 500mAh pack for daily listening and recharge it via the Type-C port; keep fresh AA cells as a backup for extended outages when mains power is unavailable.

How long will the 500mAh battery run the radio in practice?

Run-time depends on volume and band, but the 500mAh capacity typically delivers several hours of continuous FM or NOAA reception before a recharge is needed.

What does the 33.5cm antenna actually improve?

The 33.5cm telescopic antenna boosts gain on AM, FM, shortwave and weather bands, giving clearer audio and fewer drop-outs in fringe or indoor locations.
