Compact 10U Rack for Desktop Use

The iStarUSA WD-1045 is a 10U steel rack enclosure designed to sit on a countertop or under a desk. It accepts rackmount chassis up to 17 inches deep and supports most standard rackmount equipment. The black SPCC steel frame weighs 220 lbs capacity and ships new.

Casters and Optional Extras

Four casters make the unit lightweight and easy to transport between locations. Optional accessories include an LCD monitor arm, a wood top panel and fixed feet for stationary installs. No shelves or rails are included, so sliding-rail servers from major vendors mount directly to the front posts.

Passive Airflow Under Sustained Load

The open-frame design relies on central air-conditioning for temperature control rather than built-in fans. With maximum airflow paths front to rear, heat from densely packed 1U or 2U servers dissipates continuously during long compute runs. No active cooling components are present to fail or add noise.

Questions about this item

How much weight can the 10U steel frame hold before it becomes the limiting factor?

The rack is rated for a maximum load of 220 lbs distributed across the 10U mounting space.

Does the open-frame design rely on room air-conditioning to keep internal temperatures stable during continuous operation?

Yes, the enclosure has no built-in fans; it depends on central AC or ambient airflow passing through the perforated sides for cooling.

Which sliding-rail kits from HP, Dell or IBM servers will mount directly without extra adapters?

The rack accepts standard square-hole rails used on HP, Dell and IBM servers with chassis depth of 17 inches or less.
