Ultra-portable encrypted SSD

The iStorage diskAshur M2 is a 2TB portable solid-state drive that unlocks with a 7-15 digit PIN entered on its built-in keypad. Hardware-based AES-XTS 256-bit encryption secures all data automatically when the drive is disconnected, requiring no software installation. It targets professionals who need validated security for sensitive files while travelling.

FIPS 140-3 Level 3 validated storage

The drive delivers sequential read and write speeds up to 370 MBps over a USB 3.2 interface, sufficient for moving large project files and backups quickly. Its IP68 rating confirms dust-tight construction and waterproofing, while shock resistance survives a 4-metre drop onto concrete and crush resistance withstands 2.7 tonnes. Performance scales with the host controller, so older USB ports will run slower.

On-device PIN authentication

A Common Criteria EAL 5+ certified secure microprocessor manages encryption keys and enforces brute-force protection without host software. Dual Admin and User PINs plus a one-time recovery PIN allow managed deployment in organisations. Buyers who need software-managed encryption, network-attached access or capacities beyond 2TB should consider alternative solutions.

Questions about this item

Will the USB 3.2 connection work with my older USB 2.0 ports?

Yes, the drive is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports, though speeds will be limited to the older standard's maximum.

How do I confirm the AES-XTS 256-bit encryption is active after I set my PIN?

The drive automatically encrypts all data when disconnected; successful PIN entry at next connection confirms the encryption cycle is working.

Are both USB Type-A and Type-C cables included, or do I need to buy a Type-C cable separately?

Both USB Type-A and Type-C cables are included in the package, so no separate cable purchase is required.
