Secure portable storage

The iStorage diskAshur2 SSD is a 4 TB external solid-state drive with an on-board keypad for PIN authentication. It uses military-grade AES 256-bit XTS hardware encryption validated to FIPS PUB 197 and certified to Common Criteria EAL5+. The drive locks automatically when unplugged and is rated IP56 for dust and splash resistance.

USB 3.2 interface

The drive connects via USB 3.2 and delivers sequential read speeds up to 361 MB/s and write speeds up to 358 MB/s. No software or drivers are required, so it works on any device with a USB port including Windows, macOS, Linux, Chrome, Android, thin clients and embedded systems. The integrated cable ensures the connector is always available.

For regulated-data workflows

Professionals who must meet GDPR, CCPA or HIPAA requirements will appreciate the hardware encryption, self-destruct PIN and brute-force protection built into the keypad. Buyers who need faster transfer rates for large media libraries or who prefer a software-managed encrypted volume should consider alternative drives.

Questions about this item

What does the 361 MB/s read speed mean when I plug this into my laptop?

It is the maximum sequential throughput the drive can sustain over USB 3.2; real-world speeds depend on the host port, cable quality and file sizes.

How does the USB 3.2 interface limit actual transfer rates?

The drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 1 signalling, so the practical ceiling is the port's 5 Gbps bandwidth minus protocol overhead.

Will the 2.5-inch, 0.79-inch thick enclosure fit in my bag's slim pocket?

The drive measures 3.31 by 4.88 by 0.79 inches and weighs 0.40 lb, so it fits most laptop sleeves and small compartments.
