  • FIPS PUB 197 validated encryption algorithm
  • Available in capacities from 32 GB to 1 TB

Purpose & Compatibility

This iStorage microSD card provides 64GB of removable storage engineered exclusively for the iStorage datAshur SD encrypted USB Type-C flash drive. It cannot function as a standalone memory card in cameras, phones, or standard card readers because encryption and authentication are handled by the separate datAshur SD hardware.

Build & Daily Use

The card uses a standard microSD form factor that slots into the integrated card slot of the datAshur SD drive. Once inserted, users enter an 8 to 64 digit PIN on the drive to unlock access; when locked, all data on the card is secured with full-disk AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption validated under FIPS PUB 197.

Limits of the Encrypted Ecosystem

Capacity is restricted to the six available sizes from 32GB to 1TB, and the card only works with datAshur SD drives — cloned or original — that share the same encrypted encryption key via KeyWriter software. Buyers needing a conventional microSD for direct device use or a different encrypted platform should choose another product.

Questions about this item

How does the microSD card interface with the datAshur SD drive's encryption?

The 64 GB microSD card is inserted into the datAshur SD drive's integrated slot; after entering an 8-64 digit PIN the drive performs full-disk AES-XTS 256-bit hardware encryption validated to FIPS PUB 197.

What physical slot does this card require?

It fits a standard microSD card slot, which is built into the datAshur SD drive; no adapter or separate reader is needed.

How do I set up the card for the first time?

Insert the card into the datAshur SD drive, enter your chosen PIN to authenticate, and the drive immediately encrypts all data written to the card; a common mistake is trying to format or encrypt the card in another device before using it with the datAshur SD.
