This compact adapter converts a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt 1 and 2 output to a VGA female connector. It suits users connecting legacy monitors or projectors to older MacBook, Surface or ThinkPad devices. A separate VGA cable is required to complete the link. The 15 cm tail keeps the setup tidy.

Video-only conversion up to 1920x1200

The unit passes video signals up to 1920x1200 and 1080p without external power. It does not carry audio, so a separate audio path is needed for sound. Mac models before 2010 do not output audio over Mini DisplayPort in any case. The adapter is unidirectional and only converts from Mini DisplayPort to VGA.

Thunderbolt 1 and 2 compatibility only

The connector fits Thunderbolt 1 and 2 ports as well as standard Mini DisplayPort sockets. It does not work with Thunderbolt 3 or USB-C ports. Compatible systems include MacBook Pro and Air before 2016, iMac before 2017, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, Surface Pro 1 to 4, Surface 3 and select ThinkPad models.
