Directional Lavalier Microphone

The J. Countryman B2D is a hypercardioid lavalier microphone designed for professionals who need focused voice capture in broadcasting, theatre or presentation settings. Its compact form factor allows discreet placement while the directional pattern rejects off-axis sound. The microphone connects to Sennheiser Evolution Series transmitters via a detachable SR connector cable.

Sustained Noise Rejection

Under continuous use the hypercardioid pattern consistently provides 6-10 dB additional headroom over omnidirectional lavaliers, reducing feedback risk and ambient pickup during long sessions. Vibration isolating clips suppress clothing rustle and handling noise that would otherwise accumulate over time. The 50 Hz to 18 kHz frequency response maintains tonal balance throughout extended performances.

Wireless Interface Limits

The detachable SR connector restricts compatibility to Sennheiser Evolution G2, G3, EW100, EW300, EW500 and SK1093 transmitters; other wireless systems cannot be used without an adapter. Plug-in power operation at 1 to 2V means the microphone draws minimal current from the transmitter, preserving battery life. The fixed W4 standard gain setting cannot be adjusted for unusually quiet or loud sources.

Questions about this item

How much power does the B2D lavalier draw when plugged into a Sennheiser transmitter all day?

It operates on plug-in power between 1 and 2 V, so the transmitter supplies only a tiny current that has no noticeable effect on battery life during extended use.

Which Sennheiser transmitter models accept the detachable SR connector on this microphone?

The SR connector fits Sennheiser Evolution G2, G3, EW100, EW300, EW500 and SK1093 transmitters, giving direct compatibility with those wireless systems.

Will the hypercardioid pattern on this B2D cause phase issues if I keep using my older omnidirectional lavaliers in the same room?

The hypercardioid pickup provides 6-10 dB more headroom than omni types, reducing phase cancellations when multiple microphones are active together.
