DC power pigtail for 12 V surveillance gear

This 15 cm cable adds a 5.5 x 2.1 mm male barrel plug to bare wire leads, letting you power cameras or accessories from a standard 12 V supply. The centre-positive polarity matches most security equipment and the red and black conductors are pre-stripped and tinned for quick termination.

Replaces damaged or missing factory leads

Swap out a frayed factory pigtail or extend a short supply cable without cutting into the original harness. The jump is worth it when the existing connector is worn, the wire gauge is too thin, or you need a clean solder-ready end for terminal blocks or wire nuts.

Handles low-voltage DC runs up to the connector

The moulded barrel and PVC jacket comfortably carry typical 12 V camera loads. Headroom ends at the plug’s current limit, so high-wattage heaters or multi-camera arrays need a heavier distribution cable instead.

Questions about this item

What length and connector size does this pigtail have for a 12 V port?

The cable is 15 cm long including the 5.5 x 2.1 mm male barrel plug.

How do I connect the pre-stripped wires without soldering?

The red and black leads are tinned and can be joined with wire nuts or crimp terminals for a solderless connection.

When should I replace the cable if the insulation degrades?

Replace it if the black PVC jacket cracks or the exposed copper corrodes, which can cause intermittent power to the 12 V device.
