M.2 NGFF SATA to USB 3.0 Enclosure

This aluminium enclosure converts a B-key M.2 NGFF SATA SSD into a portable USB 3.0 drive. It supports 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 form factors. The Asmedia ASM1053E chipset provides a 5 Gb/s USB link and SATA-III 6 Gb/s internal speed. It is not suitable for NVMe PCIe SSDs or M-key drives.

Tool-free installation with broad OS support

The drive slides into the M.2 slot and secures without tools, then connects via USB 3.0 or USB 2.0. Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android recognise the device automatically. UASP support reduces protocol overhead. The only common issue is attempting to use an NVMe or M-key SSD, which the enclosure cannot detect.

Sustained performance limited by SATA and USB 3.0

Under continuous load the enclosure delivers speeds consistent with the SATA-III 6 Gb/s and USB 3.0 5 Gb/s interfaces. The aluminium body acts as a heatsink to moderate controller temperature during long transfers. UASP helps maintain throughput, but the link remains the bottleneck for extended workloads.
