JacobsParts POEINJ-A 12V 2A Injector
This passive Power over Ethernet injector combines data and 12V 2A power onto a single Cat5, Cat5e or Cat6 cable. It suits installers adding IP cameras, wireless access points or VoIP phones where no local mains socket exists. The unit plugs into a standard 120V wall outlet and delivers 24W through the spare pairs of an RJ45 link. It is built for indoor use with a compact black enclosure.
Upgrade from separate power supplies
The injector replaces an individual wall wart and a separate data run for each powered device. The jump is worthwhile when cable routes are already in place and you need to add PoE capability without fitting an active switch. It supports 100Mbps Ethernet data on pins 1, 2, 3 and 6 while power rides on pins 4, 5, 7 and 8 in mode B. Devices that require active 802.3at or 802.3bt negotiation will not start up with this adapter.
Check device voltage and pin-out
Confirm the target equipment accepts 12V passive PoE on the spare pairs before ordering. The injector provides always-on power on pins 4, 5 positive and 7, 8 negative with no handshake. Verify the Ethernet cable length stays within 100 metres for reliable data and voltage delivery. Ensure a 120V mains socket is available at the injector location.
