Converts a 5.5 x 2.1 mm centre-positive barrel jack into a USB-A female port for powering Raspberry Pi boards, HDMI dongles and other USB devices that do not require data-line resistance
The JacobsParts UB2DC-A converts a 5.5mm/2.1mm centre-positive barrel jack into a USB Type A female port. It lets you run USB-powered gear from an existing 5 V barrel-type power supply. The connector pair is the only function; there is no voltage conversion or regulation on board.
Makers powering a Raspberry Pi, an HDMI streaming stick or similar USB devices from a spare barrel charger will find it works well. Buyers who need to charge an iPhone, iPad or other device that requires D+/D- line resistance cannot use this adapter. It also does not suit anyone needing data transfer or a different barrel size.
Confirm that your power supply delivers exactly 5 V and uses a 5.5 mm outer / 2.1 mm inner centre-positive plug. Check that the target device draws power only and does not rely on data-line signalling for charging negotiation. Ensure the barrel jack on your supply matches the adapter’s female socket polarity.

You need a 5 V supply with a 5.5 mm/2.1 mm male barrel plug, centre positive, that can deliver the current your USB device requires.
No, because the adapter leaves the D+/D- lines without the resistance those devices expect, so they will not recognise it as a charger.
Connect a USB device such as a Raspberry Pi or HDMI dongle; if it powers up and runs normally, the adapter is working as intended.
