It handles 4K at 60 Hz, 3D and colour spaces up to RGB 8:8:8 or YCbCr 4:4:4. The box is aimed at owners of AV receivers or soundbars that lack enough HDMI inputs.

Installation and common issues

Connect the supplied 5 V 1 A power adapter, link up to two source devices and the display, then select the active input with the included IR remote or the front toggle. A four-position audio-format switch sets TV, 2.0, 5.1 or 7.1 output. Handshake failures usually trace to mismatched EDID or an HDCP 2.3 mismatch; power-cycling the switch and sources in order typically restores the link.

Limits of the HDMI 2.0b interface

Bandwidth tops out at 18.5 Gbps, so 4K 120 Hz or 8K signals cannot pass. HDR metadata and deep-colour 10- or 12-bit at 4K 60 Hz are restricted to YCbCr 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 subsampling. ARC and eARC return audio from a compatible TV, but the TV must support the respective standard for the feature to work.
