Converter for SDI cameras and broadcast gear

The Jansicotek SDI2HDMI accepts SD, HD and 3G-SDI signals on a single BNC input and delivers both an HDMI output and an SDI loop output. It handles 480i, 576i, 720p and 1080i/p formats at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 Hz with automatic signal detection. Power comes from a USB DC 5 V supply rated at 1 A. The unit measures 5.83 x 4.49 x 2.44 inches and weighs 7.8 ounces.

Sustained signal handling with re-clocking

The converter re-clocks the incoming SDI stream at data rates of 270 Mb/s, 1.485 Gbps and 2.97 Gbps, allowing multiple units to be cascaded without signal degradation. LED indicators show lock status during continuous operation. Embedded audio up to 24 bit, 48 kHz and eight channels passes through both outputs. The design is intended for stable, long-duration runs in studio, security or campus TV environments.

HDMI 1.3a output limits and SMPTE compliance

HDMI output follows the 1.3a specification with 30 or 36 bits per pixel in RGB or YUV colour space. Supported output timings match the input list: 480i/p, 576i/p, 720p at 50 and 60 Hz, 1080i at 50 and 60 Hz, and 1080p at 24, 25, 30, 50 and 60 Hz. The device conforms to SMPTE 259, 274, 292, 296, 372, 424 and 425 standards. It does not support 4K, HDR or higher HDMI versions.

Questions about this item

Does the Jansicotek SDI2HDMI converter run hot or draw much power when left on continuously?

It is powered from a USB DC 5V/1A supply and has no fan, so heat and power draw stay low during all-day use.

What cables or sources do I need to connect before the Jansicotek SDI2HDMI will pass video?

You need a BNC cable carrying an SD-SDI, HD-SDI or 3G-SDI signal into the single input; the converter then provides one HDMI output and one SDI loop output.

Will the Jansicotek SDI2HDMI pass 1080p 24 Hz from an older camera to a modern HDMI monitor?

Yes, the input accepts 1080p at 24 Hz and the HDMI output reproduces that same 1080p 24 Hz format.
