Connectivity for Mini DP sources

This 10 ft cable links a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 output to a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 input. It carries 32.4 Gbps bandwidth and supports 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz with HDR10, Dolby Vision and 10-bit colour. The bi-directional design works for laptops, desktops and monitors equipped with either connector type.

Check your ports before ordering

Verify that the source device has a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 or Thunderbolt 2 socket and the display has a standard DisplayPort 1.4 socket. The cable is backward compatible with DisplayPort 1.3, 1.2, 1.1 and 1.0, but the highest resolutions and refresh rates require 1.4 on both ends. No driver installation is needed for plug-and-play operation.

Thermals noise and power draw

Passive copper construction with triple-layer shielding produces no heat and no audible noise during normal use. Power is drawn only from the DisplayPort source for signal conditioning, staying within the port’s standard current limit. Gold-plated connectors and a braided PVC jacket resist corrosion and physical wear without affecting thermal behaviour.

Questions about this item

Does the cable include both the Mini DisplayPort and full-size DisplayPort connectors, or do I need to buy an adapter separately?

The cable has a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 male connector on one end and a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 male connector on the other, so no separate adapter is required.

Should I choose a shorter or longer version of this cable for a 10 ft run to my monitor?

This model is the 10 ft length; if your source and display are closer, a shorter cable reduces clutter, but this one covers the full distance.

Will the 32.4 Gbps bandwidth actually deliver 4K at 144 Hz on my gaming monitor?

Yes, the HBR3 bandwidth supports 4K at 144 Hz with 10-bit colour and HDR, provided your graphics card and monitor both run DisplayPort 1.4.
