10/100/1000 Mbps headroom

The adapter negotiates at 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps and uses the USB 3.0 bus for up to 5 Gbps throughput, so Gigabit line-rate traffic is sustained without the bottleneck seen on USB 2.0. On a USB 2.0 port the link falls back to 10/100 Mbps, which limits large transfers but keeps basic connectivity working.

Compact driver-free dongle

The small black enclosure plugs directly into a USB-A port and requires no external power or driver installation on Windows 7 through 10, macOS 10.6+, Chrome OS or Linux.
