Converts an M.2 NGFF M-key slot into a PCI-E x4 connection for desktop or laptop expansion
The JMT LM-141X-V1.0 converts an M.2 NGFF M-key slot into a standard PCI-E X4 female socket. It targets builders who want to install a PCI-E expansion card inside a desktop or laptop that only offers an M.2 Socket 3 interface. The board includes fixed mounting holes for 2260 and 2280 form-factor modules. No software drivers are required for operation.
Installation uses the supplied screw and screwdriver to secure the adapter into the M.2 Socket 3 PCIe-based slot. A floppy 4-pin to Molex power cable is included to provide stable auxiliary power for the connected PCI-E card. The adapter is transparent to the operating system and supports Windows, Win CE and Linux without extra configuration.
This adapter upgrades a system by unlocking an otherwise unused M.2 Socket 3 lane for general PCI-E X4 expansion. The jump is worth it when a builder needs to add a PCI-E 1x or 4x card but lacks an open full-size slot. It does not support M.2 SATA modules or sockets wired for other keyings.
