A pair of 6x9-inch three-way coaxial speakers rated at 70 watts RMS each with a 58 to 21,000 Hz frequency response
These JVC CS-DR6931 6x9 three-way coaxial speakers are built as a direct factory upgrade for compatible vehicle doors or rear decks. The pair handles 140 watts RMS and 1000 watts peak power combined, with each speaker rated at 70 watts RMS and 500 watts peak. A 4-ohm impedance matches most aftermarket and OEM head units without extra wiring work.
The carbon mica woofer cone and hybrid rubberized cloth surround keep cone movement controlled at rated power, limiting distortion that can turn into heat. CEA-2031 compliance confirms the RMS and peak ratings follow a standardised measurement method, so the 70-watt RMS figure reflects real continuous input rather than a short burst. The ferrite magnet structure and 4-ohm load present an easy electrical load for typical car amplifiers.
Under continuous programme material the balanced poly-ether imide tweeter maintains output up to 21,000 Hz while the woofer stays composed down to 58 Hz. The 3-way topology spreads bandwidth across dedicated drivers, reducing thermal compression during long listening sessions. Power handling remains at the rated 70 watts RMS per speaker without the roll-off that can occur in designs rated only for peak output.

Fit each speaker into a standard 6x9 cut-out, secure with the supplied screws, and connect the positive terminal to the amplifier's positive lead — reversing polarity is the common error that cancels bass.
The hybrid rubberised cloth surround on the carbon mica woofer cone can dry out and crack over years; the poly-ether imide balanced tweeter diaphragm may fatigue, but the ferrite magnet and frame are maintenance-free.
Sustained output above the 70 W RMS rating per speaker causes the voice coil to heat faster than the ferrite motor can dissipate it, leading to compression and possible damage.
