Marine audio upgrade

The MA8506W is a 6-inch three-way speaker designed for marine and automotive installations. Its waterproof construction and ultra-low magnetic field prevent interference with navigation equipment. The titanium-plated cone and 100 W RMS rating suit owners replacing factory units or adding higher-output sound.

Crossover and power limits

A built-in three-way crossover directs frequencies to the woofer, midrange and Mylar tweeter. The 4-ohm impedance and 200 W peak power handling set the practical ceiling for amplifier pairing. Frequencies below 55 Hz and above 20 kHz fall outside the rated response range.

100 W RMS power handling

Continuous power capacity of 100 W RMS is the specification that determines whether this speaker matches your amplifier. Exceeding this rating risks thermal damage, while significantly lower output will not utilise the driver's dynamic range.

Questions about this item

Which version of the MA8506 series should I choose for a 6-inch opening?

The MA8506W is a single 6-inch three-way model rated at 100 W RMS and 200 W peak, so it fits that cutout directly.

What does the 200 W peak rating mean once the speaker is installed?

It indicates the maximum short-term power the 6-inch titanium woofer, midrange and Mylar tweeter can handle together without damage.

What impedance does the 4-ohm load present to my amplifier?

The 4-ohm nominal impedance lets most marine or car amplifiers deliver their rated output cleanly from 55 Hz to 20 kHz.
