Avalon Series Aluminum Boompole

The K-Tek KE-144 is an uncabled boompole built for ENG, EFP and DV location production. Its five-section aluminum construction balances durability with lightweight handling for field recording professionals. The pole collapses to a compact form that fits inside standard equipment cases for transport.

Jam-Resistant Collar Coupling

The collars use a jam-resistant mechanism that secures each section reliably during extended shoots. A unique pole top integrates cable retention slots to keep external wiring organised along the length. The stainless steel mounting stud is replaceable, extending the service life of the boompole head.

12-Foot Telescopic Reach

The boompole extends from 3 feet 3 inches to a full 12 feet, covering interview distances and wider ambient captures. Five aluminum sections provide the structural rigidity needed at maximum extension without excessive weight. It is not suited for situations requiring an internally cabled pole or a shorter minimum collapsed length.

Questions about this item

How often should the replaceable stainless steel mounting stud be checked or swapped out?

The mounting stud is user-replaceable, so you can install a new one whenever the threads show wear or the stud becomes bent, without sending the pole for service.

Which section collar tends to bind first when the pole is fully extended to 12 feet for long takes?

The five-section design uses jam-resistant collar couplings on every joint, so no single section is more likely to stick under sustained extension.

Does the aluminum tube get hot or transmit handling noise after hours of outdoor use?

Aluminum conducts ambient temperature, so the pole will feel warm in direct sun, and the uncabled design eliminates internal cable rattle but does not dampen external handling vibration.
