AC Wall Charger for Canon LP-EL Battery

This Kastar AC wall charger powers Canon LP-EL and 4307C002 lithium-ion battery packs. It accepts 100 to 240 V AC input at 50 or 60 Hz and delivers 8.4 V DC at 600 mA. A foldable flat plug makes the unit compact for travel or studio use. An LED shows red while charging and green when the battery is full or on standby.

Photographers using Canon Speedlite EL-5

The charger works with the batteries that run Canon Speedlite EL-5 and EL-1 units, so event and portrait shooters can keep spare packs topped up. It is not suited for photographers who need to charge two or more batteries at the same time. Users with non-Canon battery systems should look for a charger matched to their own packs.

8.4 V 600 mA DC output

The single fixed output of 8.4 volts at 600 milliamps determines whether this charger matches your battery. Check that your LP-EL or 4307C002 pack specifies the same voltage and current before buying.

Questions about this item

Does the Kastar LP-EL charger ship with a Canon LP-EL battery or must I buy the battery separately?

The pack contains one AC wall charger only; no battery is included, so a compatible Canon LP-EL or 4307C002 pack must be purchased separately.

Should I choose the Kastar LP-EL charger or the original Canon LC-EL unit for my Speedlite EL-5?

The Kastar model replaces the Canon LC-EL charger and supports the same LP-EL / 4307C002 batteries used in the Speedlite EL-5 and EL-1 flashes.

What does the 8.4 V 600 mA output mean for charge time on a depleted LP-EL pack?

At 600 mA the charger delivers a steady trickle; a fully discharged LP-EL battery typically reaches the green standby light in roughly two to three hours.
