What this charger does

This Kastar BP718 AC wall charger powers Canon BP-709, BP-718 and BP-727 lithium-ion batteries used in many VIXIA and LEGRIA camcorders. It plugs directly into a mains socket with a foldable flat pin and shows charge status through a red or green LED.

Who it suits and who it does not

Videographers who own one of the listed Canon camcorders and need a compact spare or replacement charger will find it fits their existing batteries. Buyers who want a charger that also powers the camera while recording, or who need multi-bay simultaneous charging, should look at other options.

The spec that decides fit

The charger delivers a fixed DC 4.2V 600mA output, so it only works with single-cell Canon batteries that accept that voltage and current. Confirm your battery model is BP-709, BP-718 or BP-727 before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the foldable flat plug on the Kastar BP718 charger need replacement over time?

The foldable flat plug is a fixed mechanical part; there is no user-replaceable component on the charger itself.

What limits continuous operation of the Kastar BP718 when charging a BP-718 battery all day?

The charger delivers 600 mA at 4.2 V and stops automatically when the LED turns green, so charge current is the limiting factor.

How much heat or noise does the Kastar BP718 produce during a full-day charging session?

The unit has no fan and runs silently; it warms slightly during the 4.2 V 600 mA charge cycle and cools once the green LED shows full charge.
