Ready-to-shoot kit

This set bundles four 1200 mAh lithium-ion cells with a compact charger that powers all four at once. Each cell delivers 4.44 Wh at 3.7 V, matching the NB-8L form factor used in several PowerShot models. The charger accepts 5 V input through Micro-USB or Type-C and includes a Type-C cable. It is aimed at photographers who want spare batteries and a single desktop charger for their Canon compacts.

Who benefits and who does not

Casual shooters and travel users who own a PowerShot A2200, A3000 IS, A3100 IS, A3150 IS, A3200 IS or A3300 IS will appreciate the extra capacity and the convenience of charging four cells simultaneously. Buyers whose cameras require a different battery shape or voltage should look elsewhere because the included plates only accept the NB-8L format. The kit also does not suit anyone needing a charger that operates from a dedicated AC adapter without USB.

Charging current limits

The charger supplies 800 mA to one or two cells and 500 mA to three or four cells at a 4.2 V output. This single specification determines how quickly depleted packs return to full power.

Questions about this item

How long will the 1200 mAh batteries last in a real camera?

The 1200 mAh cells deliver 4.44 Wh each, giving typical shooting time for the listed PowerShot models; actual shots vary with flash use, LCD brightness and temperature.

What does the USB charger's 5 V input and 4.2 V output mean for charging speed?

The charger draws up to 15 W from a 5 V 2–3 A source and supplies 800 mA to one or two batteries or 500 mA to three or four simultaneously.

Will the charger and batteries fit in my camera bag?

The set measures 3.5 by 2 by 2.5 inches, so it occupies a small rectangular footprint that suits most compact camera bags.
